Housing Bureau, a bureau with administrative and financial autonomies which subordinates to Secretary for Transport and Public Works, was established on July 1990. Due to the economical development and requests from public, Housing Bureau had been structurally reformed in 1997, 2006 and 2013 respectively in accordance with the increase of its duties.
For the purpose of taking the responsibility of assisting and handling management affairs of private housing, Housing Bureau was structurally reformed in 2006. After the structural reform on 1st July 2013, excluding the current duties remain unchanged, new duties had also been added, including: studying and suggest the assisting measures which are good for the development of estate agent industry, monitor the activities of estates agents and issue the related licenses in accordance with the stipulation of the related law; cooperate with public organizations or departments, for the purpose of arranging courses which related to estate agent industry, as a result of enhancing their service quality; establish and update the database which related to the business of real estates agent; and providing administrative and technical support for the Arbitration Centre for Building Management Affairs.
Our main missions are: assisting and setting Macao's housing policies; ensuring the implementation of measures, plans and works related to social housing; encouraging the study of Macao housing in order to evaluate housing necessities and to seek for a way to satisfy these necessities; providing technical support and assistance for building management of the common parts; monitor the activities of estate agents and issue the related licenses in accordance with the stipulation of the related law and providing administrative and technical support for the Arbitration Centre for Building Management Affairs.
The primary aim of Housing Bureau is to assist low-income families for solving their housing problems, and modulate it in accordance with the practical necessity and the housing resources. However, drastic changes of social environment, brings out the new challenge for the necessity of public housing, it enhances the request of Macao residents for a standard quality of building management, therefore our Bureau will take the responsibility on coordinating the management works of private housing. Moreover, Our bureau will also take the responsibility on monitoring the activities of business of real estate agency, for the purpose of encouraging the professional development of estate agent industry. In the future, we will actively provide up-to-date services for our residents.
